Rector of Almaty Management University

Kurenkeyeva  G. began her career at the university (formerly IAB) in 2006 as the director of the department «Doctor of Business Administration», since 2014 she has been the Dean of Graduate School of Business, since 2020 — the First Vice-Rector, since September 2021 — the Rector of Almaty Management University.

Over the years of her work at the university, Gulnara has made a huge contribution to the formation and development of Graduate School of Business. During this period, the number of programs in the portfolio of educational products of the MBA department was increased, the State standard «Requirements for the minimum and content of MBA and DBA programs» was developed and implemented, state licenses for these specialties were obtained, double degree programs were developed with business schools of the USA, Europe, Asia and Russia.

For the first time in the history of MBA (Master of Business Administration) programs of a Kazakhstani university, in June 2013,  the university received one of the most prestigious international accreditations — the international accreditation of AMBA (Association of MBA’s, UK, London) and entered the list of two hundred best MBA programs of business schools in the world.

In 2018, AlmaU MBA program took 24th place in the global ranking of Eduniversal world ranking agency, Dean of Graduate School of Business Kurenkeyeva  G.T. was elected as a member of the International Advisory Board for Accreditation of AMBA UK.

In 2021, AlmaU partnered with Arizona State University to provide world-class entrepreneurial and innovative higher education in Kazakhstan.

In the same year, the Executive MBA program of Graduate School of Business of Almaty Management University and Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University (GSM SPbU) took 22nd position among the best joint programs in the international QS Executive MBA Rankings 2021.

Gulnara Kurenkeyeva  along with professional activities, conducts a great public work, is a member of:

— Global Advisory Council Woosong University, South Korea, from March 2017 to the present;

— International Executive Education Board of the Graduate School of Management, St. Petersburg State University, (Russia), from September 2019 to the present;

— AMBA International Accreditation Advisory Board (UK), from November 2018 to the present;

— Asia Pacific Advisory Council of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates  Association (AMBA & BGA, UK) from June 2020 to the present;

— the Supervisory Board of the Republican Center for Health Development (RCHD) under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, from June 2020 to the present;

Gulnara being a manager, constantly improves her knowledge, taking an active part in international seminars and conferences, is the author of more than 30 scientific Kazakhstani and international publications on the development of management and education.

Laureate of the prize of the Association of Economists of Kazakhstan for the collective monograph «Parameters of state regulation, economic and mathematical modeling of the reproduction system and state policy of attracting foreign investment in the Republic of Kazakhstan», 2005.

She is a scientific editor of business literature translated from English into Kazakh within the framework of the project «New humanitarian knowledge: 100 textbooks in the Kazakh language».

In 2021, Kurenkeyeva G.  was awarded with CEEMAN CHAMPION AWARDS -2021 in the School Leader of the Year nomination.
